nut · a smisco build
A personal page
that keeps its secrets.
Nutshell is one shareable page — your facts, links, photos and notes — where you decide who sees each thing. Offline-capable, installable, and built without a single like, follower count, or feed. This is the kind of thing smisco designs and ships.
the product
The anti-feed personal page.
Sign up, and you build your "nutshell": a single calm page that shows who you are — facts, links, photo albums, and short notes — that someone can read in a few minutes and actually know you. Shared by a handle or a QR code; never crawled, never ranked.
Who you are
A cover with your photo, bio and the quick facts people always ask — gathered once, shared on your terms.
Where you are
Everywhere else you live online in one tidy list, plus photo albums organised into chapters.
What's unfolding
Short time-ordered notes — a coined word, because journal and logbook all read like the past; this is the present, unfolding.
the interesting part
Privacy as the core mechanic.
Most "link in bio" pages are all-or-nothing public. Nutshell's spine is a single visibility gradient that applies to every section and every item inside it — one vocabulary, used everywhere, that a person never has to re-learn.
See the page
Who is allowed to load your nutshell at all.
Open it up
Below the line, visitors get a preview only — the first few items per section.
See this item
Each fact, link or photo carries its own reach. Held-back items are absent, not blurred.
how it's built
Engineered to be quietly solid.
No framework, no build pipeline, no tracking. A local-first app that works on a train and a small, sharp backend — the kind of restraint that keeps a product cheap to run and easy to trust.
Local-first & offline
An installable PWA backed by IndexedDB as the source of truth, with an outbox that syncs when the connection returns. It just keeps working.
No-build vanilla
Plain ES modules — no bundler, no toolchain to rot. The served files are the source. Ships by copying a folder.
Thirty themes, pure CSS
The whole look is CSS custom properties; the theme picker reads the stylesheet itself, so a new theme is a few variables, no code.
A small, structured API
A focused PHP backend with privacy enforced server-side — previews truncated before they ever leave the server, media access gated per viewer.
Share & discovery, done carefully
QR codes, copy & native share, and an opt-in, exact-match people search — one canonical address per person, many keys that resolve to it.
Private by construction
"Everyone" means link-shareable, not search-indexed. Public pages were weighed and deliberately left un-crawlable.
No likes. No followers. No algorithm.
The absence is the point. There are no engagement metrics to design for — even the trusted circle is capped, so it can never quietly become a follower count. We build products with a spine, not just a feature list.
smisco builds things like this.
Small, sharp, self-contained software — designed with a point of view and shipped without the bloat. If you have something that needs building, let's talk.
